25 November The documentary film "JĄ VADINA DIVA" is presented to the Lithuanian audience, opening a new page in the life and work of Rosita Čivilytė. This month has already become a special one for the singer's fans - on 3 November, the day of Rosita's 60th anniversary, the biographical book by Elvyra Kučinskaitė was presented "Rosita. Life as Sudden Death and Slow Resurrection", which has already been welcomed in major cities across the country.
The book reveals Rosita's creative journey and her personal world - from her first steps on stage to the dramatic stages of her life, which she has overcome while remaining true to her music and her inner light. This emotional line is organically complemented by the documentary film HER NAME IS DIVA, which weaves together archival footage, memories of close people and literary interludes from the book into a multi-layered narrative of Rosita's art and life. The film creates a particularly sensitive atmosphere with a specially filmed chamber concert at Rosita's homestead in Žibėčiai, where Rosita's five new songs, presented for the first time in the context of a documentary, are performed in the open air.
In the film, her friends, stage partners, creative collaborators, Rosita's students Česlovas Gabalis, Žilvinas Žvagulis, Gintaras Rinkevičius, Vytenis Pauliukaitis, Donatas Montvydas, Monika Marija Paulauskaitė and others talk about their acquaintance with Rosita, their joint creative works and unexpected turns in their careers in a very frank and personal way.
One of the most emotional stories comes from Žilvinas Žvagulis, who recalls the early days of his career in a very candid interview: "We matched our plus and minus, it went very well, just because I was demanding of myself to the point of madness, and she was demanding of herself too. We happened to want the same thing." And soon afterwards, he says: "I on both, blyn, I hated her and on both I took a lot!..."
This quote becomes one of the most striking moments in the film, revealing Rosita's professionalism, her extraordinary creative character, her quest for perfection and her strong emotional connection with her scene partners.
The creative team of the documentary is made up of professionals who have been working together to bring Rosita's story to the screen - Gediminas Jaunius, chief producer of the creative house Elitaz, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, Rokas Jaunius, director, Elvyra Kučinskaitė, scriptwriter, who was accompanied by Ilmena Časnovičė, executive producer and Greta Šivickytė, editor. Some of these professionals also worked on the publication of Rosita Čivilytė's biography.
"This anniversary year of Rosita's life has been full of creative projects and sincere meetings with her fans. The biographical book has already toured the country's major cities, and today we have presented the documentary film "JĄ VADINA DIVA" - the premiere of which Rosita herself is seeing for the first time," says Gediminas Jaunius, "It is especially meaningful that these stories appear in the sensitive pre-Christmas period, when we especially cherish humanity, sincere conversations and light emotions. The book and the film allow us to experience Rosita's journey up close - not only creative, but also human. It is more than a document: it is a journey of the senses, a reminder that music and true connection remain the greatest light of the heart."
The documentary invited us to reassess Rosita Čivilytė's significance in the history of Lithuanian music and to experience what life sounds like when it is lived boldly, sensitively and truly.
"I think it worked. I feel so fulfilled, so beautiful, and the singing is so good. I have a huge feeling of fullness. I heard phrases that I don't even remember saying myself. I want to have this film in my archive", Rosita Čivilytė shared with emotion, watching the film for the first time with the audience, friends and associates. Her words were accompanied by warm and sustained applause.
After the film, when asked by Julia Jegorova if after all the experiences - when watching the film even brings tears to the eyes - Rosita, if she had superpowers, would she want to erase something from her life, she thoughtfully replied:
"It's all so connected, and now more than ever I realise it. Every experience in life, even the most unpleasant, teaches us so much. But twenty to thirty years ago, I would probably have erased some things."
The premiere evening ended with a round of applause and many thanks to all those who made the film, to all those who took part in it, and to all those who walk the road of life with or alongside Rosita.
