The new, 13th season of the LNK television show „The Voice of Lithuania“ reveals its first coach. The role has been filled by one of the most prominent figures on the Lithuanian music scene in recent years—singer and songwriter AISTÈ.
Having risen to fame with her song „Kerai“ and, in recent years, having released the hugely popular duets „Visi ženklai“ and „Ko tyli?“ alongside Justinas Jarutis, today AISTÈ takes her seat in the legendary red judge’s chair. The singer herself admits that, until very recently, she would have found it hard to believe that such an invitation could even be real.
„When I received an invitation to become a coach on „The Voice of Lithuania,“ I thought that someone had simply teases. “. It wasn't until I met the other teachers that I realized nobody was making it up—it's all really happening," AISTÈ laughs.
The singer makes no secret of the fact that what she's most looking forward to is meeting new talents.
„I really want to see new people, new voices, and new music. The more good music there is in Lithuania, the more talent is discovered—the better it is for everyone. „The Voice of Lithuania“ is a top-tier music project. It’s premium content, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it,“ she says.
When asked how she could be helpful to future members of her team, AISTÈ says that in today's music world, a good voice alone is no longer enough.
„I am a multidisciplinary artist. My work doesn’t end with songs or their performance. We live in an age when creativity can and must be expanded across various media. I can help a person understand who they are as an artist. Often, this is an even more difficult, longer, and even more important process than training the voice itself,“ says AISTÈ. The singer is convinced that the strongest artists emerge when they discover not only their voice but also their identity.
AISTÈ’s story is unique in the Lithuanian music scene. She rose to fame not through television shows, but through her own creative work. Her songs, concerts, and authentic artistic vision have earned her thousands of listeners and the attention of industry professionals.
„I’m known for my creative work and my day-to-day job,“ says the artist.
Music was a part of her life long before she was even born. AISTÈ’s great-grandfather was Jurgis Gaižauskas, one of Lithuania’s most renowned composers, conductors, violinists, and cultural figures. Yet the artist herself tried to escape from music for a long time.
Instead of music, she chose to study social anthropology at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), where figures such as Mick Jagger, George Soros, and Ursula von der Leyen had studied. However, after graduating, AISTĖ chose not an academic career but the path she had long resisted—music.
„Ever since I was ten, I’ve been trying to convince myself that music isn’t a career and that I need to choose a more serious path. But things only started to go well for me when I returned to my greatest love,“ she confides.
That comeback was impressive. The song „Kerai“ became a major turning point in the artist’s career and helped her music reach a wide audience. The song became an incredible social media phenomenon. Her concert schedule is filling up faster and faster, and the song „Visi ženklai,“ released in collaboration with one of the country’s most popular music producers, Justinas Jarutis, marked another important step in her career. Now, another important milestone is being added to these achievements—a spot as a judge on the 13th season of „The Voice of Lithuania.“.
Today, AISTÈ is one of the most prominent performers of the new generation in Lithuania, and her music blends Lithuanian musical traditions with soul, gospel, and sounds inspired by the legendary „Motown“ recordings.
Among her greatest influences, she mentions Vytautas Kernagis, the band „Hiperbolė,“ and Stasys Povilaitis, while Nelly Paltinienė holds a special place in her heart.
„I’ve always been fascinated not only by her music, but also by her life story. How much strength can a person have who has been through so much, yet still radiated light and joy on stage? It’s very inspiring,“ says AISTÈ.
However, her musical world was shaped not only by legends of the Lithuanian music scene. The artist was also greatly influenced by the golden age of American soul music—Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, and the artists of the legendary Detroit record label „Motown.“.
In her view, music is, first and foremost, a conversation with people.
„Music is a medium for dialogue. If you have nothing to say, there won’t be any music. There must always be a thought, there must always be a feeling. It’s not just about nice clothes or a pretty picture,“ the artist is convinced.
Her first season as a teacher will be a new experience for her, so she doesn't plan to come up with strategies in advance.
„I don’t want to assume any specific role or persona. I’ll let life take its course. Together with the audience, we’ll see what my students will be like and what kind of teacher I’ll be myself,“ AISTÈ says with a smile.
While preparing for „Lietuvos balsas,“ the singer is also embarking on a new phase in her creative career. This summer, she launched the „EPAS“ concert trilogy, which will be her most ambitious artistic project to date.
Meanwhile, the search for the country’s most talented voices is already underway. The blind auditions for „The Voice of Lithuania“ will take place on July 15 and 16 at the „Stage Lite“ studio in Vilnius.
