This week, the awaited biographical book of singer Rosita Čivilytė "Rosita: a life as a sudden death and a slow resurrection" (by Elvyra Kučinskaitė) has arrived to audiobook lovers. This is the third stage of the jubilee project of Rita Čivilytė and the creative ELITAZ - a story that this time speaks with a voice and invites us to get to know not only the text, but also a living emotion.
The presentation of the book "Rosita: Life as a Sudden Death and Slow Resurrection" took place on 3 November, the day of R. Čivilytė's 60th birthday, and the premiere of the documentary about the exceptionally talented singer "Her name is DIVA" was on 25 November. The latest work is available today on the Audioteka audiobook platform.
The audiobook is narrated by Rosita herself, and the men's line is read by actor Mindaugas Ancevičius - this unexpected duo of voices adds dynamism, theatricality and depth to the story. As in the written version, the author's voice is voiced by Elvyra Kučinskaitė. The different voices create a multidimensional narrative that allows the story to be experienced as a live dialogue.
According to R. Čivilytė, working on the audiobook has become as intense an experience as the process of writing the book itself. It was an encounter with oneself without protective filters - in solitude, with a text, a microphone and a story that had to be lived again.
"It was probably the only and first time there was such real openness. You dive back into that past, and especially those places that are quite painful... Sometimes I felt like a teenage girl who was once called to the blackboard. In such a short period of time, where you read those sentences, you are still able to feel, even to draw conclusions about whether you should have done things one way or another. And, if you don't want to, in that little room at the microphone, you have the feeling that there is an invisible, other Rosita sitting there who appreciates it all," the singer says frankly.
Čivilytė's story is revealed in the book not only through her own narrative, but also through the people with whom she worked, grew up and shared the stage. Among them are prominent names from the Lithuanian music world, whose thoughts complement and expand the story.
Žilvinas Žvagulis describes her as a highly responsible, purposeful and professional artist who has been maturing her creative decisions for a long time. Donatas Montvydas mentions Rosita as an exceptional personality with a broad worldview and the ability to share her experience. He said that Rosita's concerts have a special atmosphere and that she is not only a singer, but also a mentor and teacher who has contributed a lot to his professional growth.
Česlovas Gabalis emphasises Rosita's uniqueness on the Lithuanian music scene - her distinctive voice, style and approach to music. According to him, Rosita's talent and creativity have left a strong imprint on the country's cultural life.
"The experience is amazing. To embody the people whose music I grew up with was extraordinary. I am extremely grateful to Rosita - she has been my favourite Lithuanian singer since I was a little girl. It was a truly amazing feeling." - says actor Mindaugas Ancevičius, who voices the male lead in the audiobook.
The audio format adds an extra dimension to the story, with pauses, intonations, and dialogue between different voices, allowing the listener to become even more deeply involved in the story. This is not only Rosita's biography, but also a kind of aural narrative where music, theatre and life story meet.
"Sometimes it's like that, when you think about your life and you try to tell yourself, so easily, to tell yourself that you could have done things differently in one situation or another. But if that thought becomes too heavy for you, you stop thinking about it, and that's the extent of knowledge. And here you are forced to read and relive it all, because you are sitting at the microphone and you are sounding it all out, and sometimes more than once. And I read this book the way I felt at the time it was happening. It's interesting, valuable and I'd like more," says Rosita.
The public presentation of the audiobook "Rosita: life as sudden death and slow resurrection" will take place at the Vilnius Book Fair on 26 February at 5 pm in Hall 5.5.
