The voting phase of the M1 Music Awards, when people could nominate their favourites, has ended. As of today, one more contender has been added to the existing list of nominees, making them equal contenders for the awards. By this morning, more than 300,000 votes had been cast in the voting on m1apdovanojimai.lt and this number continues to grow rapidly every day.
"We are seeing a very active involvement of people - 100,000 votes have already been cast in just one day, just after the voting started. It's great to see that in addition to the existing nominees, voters have been nominating their own candidates in large numbers, and their favourites have been added to the existing top five. I can tell you that the fiercest battles were fought in the categories of Singer of the Year, Hit of the Year and Different of the Year. There was no single candidate who stood out from the rest of the competitors and the leaders changed sometimes even every hour. And now all the nominees are known and the nation has to choose the most deserving", says M1 Programme Director and presenter Arnoldas Eisimantas.
The sixth nominee is the candidate who has entered the most times in the blank box in each category and who meets the criteria for that particular nomination. The Singer of the Year nomination was completed by Rokas Yan, the Group of the Year nomination by Žemaitukai, the Hit of the Year nomination by Katarsis with the song "Tavo akys", and the Concert of the Year nomination by SEL in Kalnų Park, Collaboration of the Year - Lilo and Innomine's "Savęs per daug" with Evgenya Redko, Breakthrough of the Year - Adrina, Album of the Year - Lilo and Innomine's "AKNB", Nostalgia of the Year - Dolphins' revival of their hit "Žemyn" with Keite, Different of the Year - "ba.".
After this round of voting, Katarsis is in the running for the most awards - as many as five. Before that, the band and Jessica Shy were tied in four different categories.
As a reminder, in the M1 Music Awards, the Best of the Year in most of the nominations will be voted for by the audience on the official website of the event. "The winners of the Sound of the World, All-Lithuanian Music and Music Producer of the Year awards are chosen by representatives of M1, Lietus radio station and AGATA respectively, and there is no voting here.
People can cast their votes until 21 November, and the winners will be announced on 3 December, during the M1 Music Awards ceremony at Kaunas Žalgiris Arena. Here, the brightest stars will walk the blue carpet, which will be covered by an unusual creative glam dress code, while the most popular bands and artists will perform on stage in a joint performance created especially for this evening. Among them, guests from abroad.
All the performers have not been announced yet, but the names that have already been announced are Donatas Montvydas, Beissoul & Einius, Gabrielė Vilkickytė, Justinas Jarutis, Džordana Butkutė, Despotin Fam, Žemaitukai, Gabrielius Vagelis, Giedrė, Šeškės, Petunija, the duo Abor & Tynna, who have already represented Germany in Eurovision this year, and the Latvian group Tautumeitas, who have also made a splash at the Eurovision. The biggest intrigue is who will appear on stage with whom. The main idea of the show will be to bring together as many different artists and styles of music as possible to create something on stage that has never been seen before. And of course, nobody expected...
The winners of these awards will not receive the usual statuettes, but chains with M1 pendants designed by Factory by Ribas. When they open them, winners will find 14 carat white gold jewellery of the same prototype encrusted with real diamonds.
