On Wednesday evening, the brightest stars of the scene gathered at Radio House for a special party where not only the M1 Music Awards nominees were revealed, the award itself was shown publicly for the first time, but also the start of online voting was announced. From today onwards, the right, and thus the huge responsibility, to choose the winners is now in the hands of the public.
The party saw the most famous musicians, singers and bands take to the blue carpet, some of them having their names among the nominees in more than one nomination. Jessica Shy and Katarsis were the most mentioned, with four nominations each.
"It's great to be among the best singers of the year. All the nominees are very strong and different. Like a salad," Free Finga joked.

"For us, being nominated is the biggest achievement. Twice. We are very happy to be nominated for Concert of the Year. And all the colleagues who have been nominated together are really worthy of the award," said Žemaitukai.
Justinas Jarutis, who was in the category of "Co-Work of the Year" with the song "Skambinau bažnyčiai" (I called it a church), joked that he would like to receive the award, but he does not know Rokas's opinion on the matter.
In total, winners in 13 categories will be announced at the M1 Music Awards ceremony, which will take place on 3 December at Kaunas Žalgiris Arena. However, 3 of them are special categories where no voting takes place (the winner of "Sound in the World" will be chosen by the M1 team, "All Lithuanian Music" by Lietaus, and "Music Producer of the Year" will be announced by AGATA representatives). The song of the Year "Please don't dig" will also be chosen on a slightly different basis. Here, instead of the given list, everyone participating in the voting will be able to write their preferred version in the empty box.
For the remaining 9 nominations, 5 nominees were revealed during the party - they were shortlisted based solely on the statistics collected by AGATA from radio stations and music listening platforms, data provided by ticket distributors and other music industry indicators.

Voting on the official website m1apdovanojimai.lt will take place from today, 29 October, until 21 November. During the first week, until 5 November, a sixth candidate, who is considered by the public to be the most deserving, can be added to the list of nominees already submitted. It is important that the nominee meets the criteria for the specific category.
From 6 November, the most frequently mentioned candidates will be added to the top five nominees and will become the sixth, equal, nominees in the voting. Anyone can vote once a day from one browser. In the event of fraudulent voting, the organisers reserve the right to cancel these votes, which are monitored by Grant Thornton Lietuva, the auditing company that oversees the voting process and transparency.
A much more original trophy instead of the usual statuettes
The Awards will not only be distinguished by the fact that the winners will be chosen by the people. Instead of the usual statuette, the winners will be presented with 14-carat white gold chains made by internationally renowned top-class diamond experts Factory By Ribas on 3 December on the stage of the Zalgiris Arena in Kaunas, with diamonds encrusted in M1 logo-shaped pendants. But that's not all. They will be securely set in a larger pendant of the same prototype. When one is opened, the other can be found.
It is a trophy with a sense of value. It is exceptional, like no other trophy in Lithuania. According to Factory By Ribas, the diamond in this award symbolises talent that shines from within and reminds us that great achievements are born from small but strong sparks.
These chains will be worn by the top 13, very soon. The M1 Music Awards will take place on 3 December. The M1 Music Awards will be held on December 3, 2018 at Kaunas Žalgiris Arena and will be broadcast live on LNK. Bilietai.lt sells not only regular tickets, but also VIP+ tickets for the event, which will give visitors a special experience.
As well as being the first to find out who the best of the year are, people watching the event will also be treated to a spectacular show. It has already been announced that the most famous artists and bands will be performing a joint performance specially created for the event.
Among the first names that have already been announced are Donatas Montvydas, Beissoul & Einius, Gabrielė Vilkickytė, Justinas Jarutis, Džordana Butkutė, Despotin Fam, Žemaitukai, Gabrielius Vagelis, Giedrė, Šeškės, Petunija, the duo Abor & Tynna, who represented Germany at Eurovision this year, and the Latvian group Tautumeitas, who have also made a splash in the Eurovision.
